Stampin Up

Inspired by my good friend, Ashley, I have found a new hobby :) I don't have all my supplies yet, but here are a few of the cards I made this weekend :) Please keep in mind that I am new at this......so the cards aren't that elaborate! I will continue to post my creations as I get more practice. For now, I'm pretty proud of myself :) Sorry for the blurry pictures....my camera wasn't cooperating.

Skiing at Whitetail

I know this is a little bit overdue....but I finally got TJ to go skiing :) I won ski passes from DC101...probably because not too many other people are up and driving to work when I am....nonetheless....a free ski trip was my way of getting the hubby on the slopes. Now I LOVE skiing and have been many times with friends and family and even have my own ski's.
On a beautiful Saturday in January, we traveled to Whitetail for a fun filled day of skiing!
The day started off a little rocky since my ski boots were way too tight (I literally couldn't feel my toes) so I ended up having to go back and rent ski's before we hit the slopes.
TJ did an awesome job (even if he complained the first few times). He didn't fall while getting off the slopes and actually let me take his poles and teach him how to turn. After several rounds on the bunny slope, we took a break for lunch. Why do you devour your food when skiing. Anywho, after lunch, TJ was on a roll and had mastered the bunny slope and decided to go up on the bigger chair lift to try out a long green run. Now had we inspected the map more closely, we would have noticed that a small part of the long green trail turned into a blue trail. Let's just say that TJ did a great job (despite it being more difficult and higher up on the mountain) UNTIL we hit the blue part of the trail. I honestly think he syked himself out and ended up walking the blue part. I was in heaven skiing to the bottom to wait for him. Once he reached the green part of the trail again, he put his ski's back on and finished the trail. That was our last trail and we went home. TJ said to me in the car, "Don't ever ask me to go skiing again....I did it once for you and am done!" I'm hoping that when we have kids, he will change his mind, because he honestly did an excellent job for his first time skiing :)
Here are some pictures of him skiing :) He is in the Gray Jacket :)

Thankful Thursday

Two posts in a week.......I'm on a roll :)

This week, I'm Thankful for.........

1) My wonderful hubby........through thick and thin, ups and downs, my "not so good" days at work, my complaining, my happy moments and medicine induced mood swings....he makes them better by being at my side. I know it sounds cliche, but I still smile every night when I go to bed and wake up next to him in the morning.

2) Leo.......my furry boy :) My favorite part about Leo is how excited he is every time I walk through the door:) He loves to cuddle when I get home and makes so many cute faces that he makes me laugh.

3) My mom and best friend who makes the days better by her daily, upbeat phone calls and constant love and support. She always knows what to say to make things better.

4) My friends and co-workers who make each and every day a blast and support me no matter what. I am so thankful for Joanne and Kelly who are my constant support group and who make work so much fun. For Shannon and Sarah who always stop by to ask about me and share stories and funny moments. For Ashley who continues to amaze me with her strength and who has me hooked on Stampin up card making :) Lindsay for always calling to tell me about my Mullen friends and to check up on me. I'm so thankful for each and every one of you for making my days better.

Going to get better at Blogging

So after many months of no updates, I am going to try my best to at least update our blog once a week :) I have been inspired by the blogs of friends so might be stealing some of their ideas (like Wordless Wednesday, Thankful Thursday, etc.) As for today I'll leave you with a picture of Leo's favorite thing to do (especially after I have already cleaned and vacuumed the floors.

Lake Anna Camping

TJ made grilled veggies over the fire....super yummy :)

TJ making a big fire :)

Seriously....it was freezing.

Leo and TJ chillin'

I don't know if Leo was cold or just wanted to be super close :)

So we decided to go camping at Lake Anna State Park a few weekends ago when the weather was nice. We enjoyed the campground (clean bathrooms and showers) and the park had lots of hikes. Leo especially loved swimming in Lake Anna. I'm not sure how cold it got at night (I'm guessing 40 or so degrees), but I was freezing and Leo spent the night cuddled up between TJ and I. All in all a great weekend trip at a great park :)

Nascar Rookie Rush

Thanks to groupon.com, TJ, his sister Tracey and I had the opportunity to drive a Nascar car for eight laps at Richmond International Raceway. We took a short 30 minute class and then a test drive around the track in an SUV. I think we were all a little scared because I seriously thought the SUV ride was scary!! All is all it was a blast, except for all the waiting because they did it alphabetically :) As far as speed goes, I think we all agreed that Tracey was the slowest and TJ was the fastest...which left me in the middle. Here are some pictures and videos from the fun :)

Leo's 6th Birthday

I'm trying to get better about posting more often :) Leo turned 6 on September 23, 2010 and we celebrated with a doggy birthday cake, toys and day of swimming at his favorite pet resort. Here are a few pictures of his birthday fun :)
